White Wild Indigo (Baptisia alba) - 35 Seeds
•Also known as White False Indigo
•Heirloom
•Non-GMO
•American grown seeds
•Perennial
•USDA Zones: 4-10
Description:
Baptisia alba commonly called white false indigo, is an upright perennial which typically grows 2-3’ tall. It features small, white, pea-like flowers (to 1/2” long) in erect racemes (to 12”) atop dark flower stems extending well above a foliage mound of clover-like, trifoliate, bluish-green leaves (leaflets to 2” long). Blooms in spring. Flowers give way to inflated seed pods (to 1 3/4” long) which turn brown to black when ripe and have considerable ornamental interest. Stems with seed pods are valued additions to dried flower arrangements.
Planting Instructions:
Since this plant does not transplant well, it should be direct sown. The seed will need to be scarified; to accomplish this, pour 150 degrees F water over the seed and let it soak overnight the day before planting. In late fall, plant 2-3 seeds per plant, 1/8" deep, spaced 24-36" apart. For spring planting, the scarified seed will need to be mixed with moist sand and stored in the refrigerator for 10 days before planting. Germination should take place within 15-20 days after the cold cycle.
•FREE SHIPPING on all orders of $35 or more.
•Flat Rate shipping no matter how many seeds you order.
•Growing instructions included on each seed packet.
