If you tend to overwater your plants, this is the right one for you. You literally can't overwater it. Native to the swamps of Madagascar, this sedge is a member of the Papyrus family which has over 600 grass-like plants. While it is a tropical plant and are best suited to moist, warm outdoor environments such as around ponds and can survive completely submerged in water, they are very adaptable to most homes and can be grown inside. They're unique, beautiful and super easy to care for using a 2 pot system. Have one pot inside another and use the outside pot for water. This will keep your Umbrella Palm continuously wet and watch it flourish. This plant really makes a great backdrop to any room.

Planting Instructions:
Sow Umbrella Plant seeds indoors. Pre-moisten peaty starter mix. Sow the Umbrella Palm seed on the surface, lightly dust with soil and then cover the container. The seeds germinate in darkness. Keep the flower seeds continuously moist until germination, but not soggy. Once established and large enough to handle, transplant into a larger pot. After 8 more weeks, transplant to final location outdoors near a water source or use a 2 pot system. Have one pot inside another and use the outside pot for water. This will keep your Umbrella Palm continuously wet.
